- Harmonising sustainability goals with economic concerns is the aim of the Green Economy. Developments in climate change adaptation in particular have revealed the potential of this type of economy. As various examples in the report are intended to show, environment and economy are not incompatible; and this is not only true for the Alpine region, but can also be transferred to other regions.

- Purpose
- The Report on the State of the Alps (RSA) offers periodical information on ecological, economical, and social development in the Alpine space. It provides a database on the future of the Alps for people in the world of politics, management, media or science. Furthermore, this standard work gives important yard sticks in terms of formulating adapted strategies. The long version of the report is available in English, a full summary is also available in German, Italian, French and Slovenian.

Data are assessed, verified, and compared with the information provided by the Contracting Parties, and trends are analysed in order to identify the challenges of the future at an early stage.
