Abstract

The monitorization of carcinogenic pollutants is essential in determining the air quality of a specific area. Therefore, the extensive monitoring of benzo(a)pyrene (Bap), although occasionally, is carried out throughout the Alpine region, mainly at urban or suburban background locations.
Benzo(a)Pyrene concentration levels comply with the EU threshold (1 ng/m3) at most sites, and an overall decrease of concentrations was observed in 2018.
The layer shows the annual mean concentration of benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) in 2018 in the Alpine region. Strict exceedances of the EU target value are plotted in red.
Indeed, unless a Member State decides the contrary, values in orange are not exceedances according to the current EU rules.
